Continuing Education

Each media center in the district now has CD-ROMs on Reading and Classroom Management. These, along with low-cost online class about mental health, will take care of 3 of the 4 specialty areas required for clock hours on teacher licensure renewal. Stop by and check them out!

Continuing Education
The local standard/vocational continuing education committee at Orono, District 278, is established according to the Board of Teaching rules for the purpose of evaluating continuing education activities and recommending renewal of five-year continuing teaching and support service licenses.

Steps To Relicensure
During the 5-year period prior to expiration of license:

Participate in relicensure experiences for a total of 125 clock hours.
Secure official verification document for each experience (transcripts, letter, certificate or other forms).
Follow the procedures outlined by the Committee on Continuing Education GUIDELINES.
Please note there are four additional requirements that must be met by all relicensing teachers.
New requirements:

Effective for renewal of continuing licenses after June 30, 2001, applicants must include in their

125 clock hours experiences that address Classroom Management, Differentiated Instruction, Reading, and Mental Health.

2009-2010 - You are now required to e-mail your CEU requests to the continuing education committee.
